The complainant immediately called the tracker company and also informed Rescue 15 about the situation. The tracker company started sending the car’s live location on WhatsApp.
They began following the location in another vehicle. When they reached Jaranwala Road near Bijli Ghar, they spotted the stolen car stuck in a traffic block opposite UBL Bank. The LED lights outside the bank were on and traffic was moving slowly due to metro construction work.
Rehan Ashraf rushed toward the car while the others followed a few steps behind. Two unidentified accused stepped out of the vehicle. Rehan shouted at them, asking where they were taking his car.
At that moment, one of the accused pulled out a pistol and fired at Rehan Ashraf. The bullet struck him on the right side of the neck and he collapsed covered in blood.
Seeing him fall, the accused fled toward Bijli Ghar. The family informed police and rushed Rehan to hospital, but he died on the way.

Meanwhile, citizens on social media strongly criticised police performance over the incident.
Ahtsham Randhawa questioned how dacoits could steal a car worth Rs 8.5 million from a club’s valet parking and then kill its owner despite the victim calling police helpline 15 and sharing the live location.
He wrote that while police officers remain active on social media, citizens on the ground are left unprotected. The post reflected growing public anger over street crime in Faisalabad.
In an official statement, Faisalabad Police spokesperson said CPO Faisalabad Tanveer Hussain took notice of the murder. He sought a report from SP Iqbal Division Saeed Ahmad and formed investigation teams under his supervision to arrest the culprits.
According to the spokesperson, unidentified accused shot dead the citizen during the car theft and fled the scene. PFSA teams are collecting forensic evidence from the crime scene.
CPO Tanveer Hussain vowed that the accused would be arrested soon and brought to justice.
