The City’s Cheapest Comfortable Ride

Faisalabad’s electric bus service is the city’s cheapest comfortable ride. The air-conditioned green buses charge a flat Rs 20 on two routes across the city.

Women, students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities ride completely free. The service was inaugurated on 29–30 September 2025 with 30 buses in the first phase.

The service is still in its first phase. Thirty buses run today and the full plan carries 150, so more buses and more routes are meant to follow as the fleet grows.

About 24,000 riders a day were expected on the two routes when the service was planned.

The buses are fully electric and air-conditioned, with Wi-Fi, CCTV cameras and wheelchair access on board. For a city where the daily commute usually means a rickshaw fare many times higher, a Rs 20 air-conditioned ride changes the arithmetic of the whole day.

The Two Routes

RouteFrom — ToLength
Route 1Yousuf Town to Saigol City22 km
Route 2University Roundabout to Sidhupura18 km

One honest gap: no official stop-by-stop timetable has been published for either route. This page will carry the stops and timings the day the transport department issues them.

Until then, allow some waiting time at the stop.

Fares and Free Travel

  • The fare is a flat Rs 20 for the full route. It does not change with distance.
  • Women ride free on both routes.
  • Students ride free on both routes.
  • Senior citizens ride free on both routes.
  • Persons with disabilities ride free on both routes, with wheelchair access on board.

Read the free list again, because it covers most of the city’s daily travellers. A student crossing the city on Route 2 pays nothing at all.

A family sending a daughter or a mother across town pays nothing for her seat either.

How to Ride — Three Steps

1

Pick your route

Two routes run today: Yousuf Town to Saigol City and University Roundabout to Sidhupura. Check the table above for the one that crosses your journey.

2

Reach a stop

Board at any stop along the route. No stop-by-stop timetable has been published, so reach the stop with a little time in hand.

3

Pay Rs 20, or ride free

The fare is a flat Rs 20 for the full route. Women, students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities pay nothing.

Two More Punjab Schemes Worth Knowing

Punjab E-Bike Scheme

100,000 electric bikes

The province’s other big transport scheme: electric bikes for students on easy monthly instalments, with distribution of the second phase starting in November 2026.

PSER Registration

Free — every household

The Punjab Socio-Economic Registry is the data base behind most Punjab welfare schemes. A household that is registered and verified in PSER is easier to select for support programmes across the province.

What Riders Get Wrong

Read this before your first ride:

  • Looking for a stop timetable online. None has been published. Any page that lists exact stop timings for these routes is guessing.
  • Waiting for the other routes. Only two routes run in this phase. The 150-bus figure is the full plan, not today’s fleet.
  • Paying when your category is free. Women, students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities ride free. Do not hand over the fare out of habit.
  • Expecting the fare to rise with distance. It does not. Rs 20 is the whole fare from the first stop to the last.
  • Assuming the bus is hard to board with a wheelchair. The buses carry wheelchair access by design.

For Faisalabad Readers

Route 2 ties the university area to Sidhupura and Route 1 crosses the city from Yousuf Town to Saigol City, so the service already touches the two journeys Faisalabad makes most: the student’s ride and the worker’s ride.

The service has run since the end of September 2025 and this page is updated whenever routes, fares or the fleet change.
