LAHORE: IG Punjab Abdul Karim on Friday ordered intensified patrolling across the province, directing district police chiefs to make night patrolling stricter and warning that negligence would invite strict action.

Patrolling to be monitored by senior officers themselves

Chairing a meeting at the Central Police Office, the IG directed RPOs, CPOs and DPOs to personally monitor vehicle tracking and patrolling from their offices and ordered that trackers be installed in all patrolling vehicles by tomorrow.

He directed SHOs, SDPOs, SPs and other senior officers to patrol in the field themselves and ordered all senior officers to personally visit police stations to review the front desk, lockups, record room and other affairs.

Additional IG Operations Punjab, RPO Faisalabad, DIG Investigation Lahore, AIG Operations and AIG Admin and Security attended the meeting, while the CCPO Lahore, Additional IG South Punjab, all RPOs, CPOs, DPOs and DIG Operations Lahore joined by video link.

Enhanced security ordered for Friday

The IG also ordered enhanced security in Lahore and across the province for Friday, directing that security of mosques, imambargahs, shrines, markets and sensitive places be ensured and patrolling increased around mosques, imambargahs, business centres and on highways.

He directed DPOs and other senior officers to remain in the field and personally review the security arrangements, saying the establishment of law and order and protection of citizens’ lives and property is the top priority.

He also directed police officers to listen to citizens’ problems in mosques after Friday prayers, saying senior officers should hear and resolve people’s problems at their doorstep through mosques.

Notice taken of two women’s bodies in Rawalpindi

Meanwhile, the IG took notice of the recovery of two women’s bodies from a house in the Dhamial police limits of Rawalpindi and sought a report from RPO Rawalpindi.

He directed CPO Rawalpindi to investigate the incident from all angles and arrest the accused immediately, ordering that all available resources be used for the arrests, a Punjab Police spokesman said.
