FAISALABAD: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Friday inaugurated a Multipurpose Centre housing a Digital Learning Hub that will train its female students in modern digital skills and freelancing.

According to the UAF handout, the centre at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad was arranged in collaboration with the Kaarvan Crafts Foundation, UN Women and others. The ceremony included the formal inauguration proceedings, project overviews and a guided tour of the facility.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali said a degree remained fundamental but market-oriented practical skills were equally vital for the modern job market. He said equipping female students with modern digital skills and entrepreneurial tools was essential for their financial independence.

The vice chancellor said empowering women through knowledge and technology enabled them to contribute significantly to their families and the broader economy. He assured full institutional support to ensure the sustainability of the project.

Chief Hall Warden Dr Humaira Razzaq said the hub’s main purpose was to equip female students with modern digital skills and practical knowledge. She said it would open opportunities for freelancing, employment and entrepreneurship, making students skilled, confident and economically independent.

The facility will offer training in digital literacy, software development, data analytics, IT-enabled services and freelancing. Kaarvan Crafts Foundation chief executive Danish Jabbar Khan, project director Amina Ali and TEVTA Director Faiz Ahmad Buzdar highlighted how cross-institutional linkages created direct pathways to digital employment.

They also supported student-led initiatives such as the Wall of Kindness.
