Faisalabad woke up to smoggy skies again on Friday, but conditions are slightly better than yesterday: the Air Quality Index stood at 219 — still firmly in the ‘very unhealthy’ band — down from 269 on Thursday. Fine-particle PM2.5 remains the primary pollutant, with a hazardous-level warning in place. It was warm and still at 81°F, with 66 per cent humidity and light southerly winds of 2 mph.
The next 48 hours could bring the first real relief of the week. Scattered thunderstorms are expected around midday on Friday, with rain chances near 40 per cent and light totals around 0.01 inch — enough to wash some particles out of the air. Highs reach 88°F on Friday and 85°F on Saturday, with winds strengthening to ENE 5–10 mph on Saturday, which should help disperse the haze. The PMD also notes patches of morning fog in north-east Punjab, including Faisalabad, which may disrupt early road traffic. The AQI is estimated to ease to between 180 and 230 through Saturday.
Residents with breathing difficulties, children and the elderly should continue to limit outdoor exposure and wear masks outside. Commuters should use headlights in the early-morning fog and drive carefully during any midday downpour.
Confidence: 65%. Data source: Weather.com Faisalabad, Weather Underground, PMD via INP and Met Office. This is a data-based estimate, not confirmed news.
