FAISALABAD: Smog continues to hang over the city on Monday morning, with the air quality index at 174, rated Unhealthy, and fine particulate matter (PM2.5) the primary pollutant. The temperature stood at 75 degrees Fahrenheit with 63 per cent humidity under calm winds, and smoke was reported across the city.

The forecast shows little relief over the next 48 hours. Monday is expected to reach a high of 86 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of 64, with no rain and light winds from the west-northwest at 6 mph during the day, easing to 3 mph from the west at night. Tuesday is expected to be similar, with a high of 87 and a low of 64 and no rain, as winds blow from the west at 6 mph by day and from the northwest at 3 mph at night.

IQAir’s daily forecast puts Faisalabad’s air quality index between 153 and 160 today and at 156 on Tuesday, remaining in the Unhealthy range throughout. Residents, particularly children, the elderly and those with respiratory conditions, should limit prolonged outdoor exertion, wear a mask outdoors and keep windows closed during the morning and evening hours when smog is usually thickest.
