FAISALABAD: Regional Police Officer Faisalabad directed the City Police Officer Faisalabad and the district police officers of Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot to strictly enforce the ban on kite flying, police said.
He said kite flying had caused incidents in the past in which precious human lives were lost. He directed all district heads to take effective measures in their districts to prevent kite flying.
They should identify places where the Kite Flying Act was violated with the help of the Special Branch and crack down on the accused so that no accident or unpleasant incident occurred.
Special teams should be formed at the district level to crack down on kite flyers, kite sellers and those who assisted in its preparation. A zero-tolerance policy should be adopted against kite flyers at every level, he said.
District heads should also start an awareness campaign in print and electronic media about the harms of kite flying in their districts. Parents should cooperate with the administration and police to stop their children from this deadly game, he said.
He directed the City Police Officer Faisalabad and the district police officers of Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot that strict departmental action would be taken against the concerned station house officer and subdivisional police officer if any unpleasant incident occurred due to kite flying.
Protecting the lives and property of the public remains the top priority of police, he said.
