FAISALABAD: Collective marriages for 500 deserving girls will be arranged across the four districts of Faisalabad Division in the fourth phase of the Dhee Rani Programme, officials said.
The ceremonies are expected in December 2026. Arrangements are being reviewed so that the ceremonies are organised in a dignified manner.
Additional Commissioner Coordination Qaisar Abbas Rind reviewed the arrangements on the direction of Commissioner Faisalabad Division Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh.
Director Social Welfare Khalida Rafiq briefed the meeting on the applications received, the scrutiny procedure, the eligibility criteria and related matters.
Across Punjab, the target for the coming phases is 5,000 deserving girls. In the first three phases, collective marriages for 3,000 deserving girls have already been held in dignified ceremonies.
For the fourth phase, 1,607 applications have been received from the four districts of Faisalabad Division. After scrutiny by tehsil verification committees, the eligibility of 604 deserving girls has been confirmed.
Final scrutiny will be carried out through the Punjab Information Technology Board under the Punjab government's procedure. After final confirmation, eligible girls will be selected for the programme.
Qaisar Abbas Rind directed the departments concerned to adopt a coordinated strategy so that arrangements are completed on time. He stressed strict transparency, merit and procedure in scrutiny and in the identification of deserving families, so that assistance reaches the truly entitled.
The programme aims to reduce the financial difficulties of deserving families and share the burden parents face in arranging their daughters' marriages. It also seeks to give practical relief to weaker sections of society.
Collective marriages also promote social unity, mutual cooperation and welfare values, he said. He pledged that all available resources will be used for facilities and ceremonies under the chief minister's welfare vision.
Transparency, merit and the dignity of deserving families will remain foremost at every stage, he added.
