FAISALABAD: All private hospitals and clinics in Faisalabad will stay closed today and tomorrow for a countrywide strike called by the Pakistan Medical Association, the association’s local chapter announced.

The decision was taken at a recent meeting of the PMA Centre’s executive body, which termed the Federal Board of Revenue’s policies towards doctors and healthcare providers discriminatory, unjust and unnecessary.

Endorsing the decision, PMA Faisalabad and the Private Hospitals Association (PHA) Faisalabad said all private hospitals, clinics and other private health-sector centres in the district would stay shut on both days.

The protest seeks protection of the legitimate professional rights of doctors and healthcare professionals and an end to the unfair policies facing the medical sector.

It also seeks a fair professional and business environment for the private health sector.

The two bodies appealed to doctors, private hospital administrations, clinic owners and other healthcare institutions across the district to show complete solidarity with the countrywide call and play their full part in making the strike a success.
