FAISALABAD: Gold prices in Faisalabad rose sharply on Thursday as the price of 24-karat gold reached Rs435,636 per tola after a rise of Rs9,600 during the day.
According to the Sarafa Association, the local market followed the international market. International gold rose by $96 to $4,131 per ounce.
The rise pushed local prices higher for a second straight day. Gold has now gained Rs23,500 per tola in two days.
On Wednesday, the price of 24-karat gold had risen by Rs13,900 to Rs426,036 per tola. Ten grams of 24-karat gold had cost Rs365,257 on Wednesday.
Thursday’s increase of Rs8,230 took the ten-gram price to Rs373,487.
| Purity | Per tola | Per gram |
|---|---|---|
| 24K | 435,636 | 37,349 |
| 22K | 399,333 | 34,236 |
| 21K | 381,182 | 32,680 |
| 18K | 326,727 | 28,012 |
Twenty-two-karat gold, which is widely used for jewellery, cost Rs399,333 per tola. Twenty-one-karat gold cost Rs381,182 per tola and 18-karat gold cost Rs326,727 per tola.
The sharp rise follows a volatile week for gold. Prices had fallen in late October before climbing for two days.
Traders said international cues remain the main driver of local prices.
Faisalabad follows the national Sarafa rate, so buyers in the city pay the same metal price as buyers in other cities. Jewellers may add making charges and the final bill can differ from shop to shop.
Rates are indicative and may vary slightly at local jewelers. Buyers should confirm the rate with their jeweller before making a purchase.
