Firing on Litigant Backfires as Jaranwala Police Net Both Suspects

FAISALABAD: City Jaranwala police have arrested two men accused of opening fire on a citizen in an attempt to kill him for pursuing an earlier case.

According to the police spokesman, Majid and Yasir fired at Ahmad Shuja to stop him following up the case. SHO City Jaranwala Muzaffar Ali led the team that arrested both men.

The spokesman said the attack was reported in FIR No 1190/26, registered at City Jaranwala police station under sections 324 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Further legal proceedings have begun.

The CPO said the protection of citizens’ lives and property was the police’s first priority. Those who take the law into their own hands will be dealt with an iron hand, he added.
