Key Points:

  • FESCO announces planned shutdowns in advance, so consumers can check their feeder’s timings through official channels before the supply goes off.
  • The 118 helpline, SMS service 8118 and the CCMS online portal work round the clock for complaints and information.
  • Registering your mobile number against your bill’s reference number lets messages about your connection reach you directly.

FAISALABAD: Power supply in the Faisalabad region is suspended in turns for maintenance work, but consumers can check the shutdown timings of their feeder in advance through official channels of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO).

Most consumers learn about a shutdown only when the fans stop, although a little advance checking can save hours of uncertainty.

Planned shutdowns are announced in advance

FESCO issues a shutdown programme before suspending supply for necessary repair, maintenance and expansion of lines. The programme names every feeder and grid station with the date and the hours of the shutdown.

This newspaper publishes the schedules in full, feeder by feeder, as soon as the company issues them.

Check through the Power Smart app

The Power Information Technology Company (PITC) runs the Power Smart mobile application for electricity consumers across Pakistan. A consumer enters the 14-digit reference number printed on the bill to see the loadshedding schedule and the status of the relevant feeder.

The application also carries billing information of the past 12 months and a bill calculator, according to PITC.

Call 118 or send an SMS to 8118

Consumers can call the national electricity contact centre at 118 round the clock to ask about a shutdown or to lodge a complaint. The same complaint can be sent by SMS to 8118 with the reference number.

FESCO also lists a UAN, 0800-66554, on its contact page for consumers.

Lodge and track a complaint online

The PITC complaint system at ccms.pitc.com.pk accepts complaints online and issues a ticket number to every complainant. The consumer can track the complaint with that number until it is resolved.

Complaints can also be sent by email to ccms@pitc.com.pk, according to PITC.

Register your mobile number

A consumer can register a mobile number and CNIC against the reference number through the PITC registration portal linked from the FESCO website. Messages about the connection are then sent to that number, according to the portal.

Keep your reference number ready

Every official channel works on the 14-digit reference number printed on the monthly bill. Keeping a photograph of the latest bill on the mobile phone saves time when the lights go out.

Before a planned shutdown

When a shutdown is announced for your feeder, charge mobile phones and torches in advance. Store water for the house while the motor can still run.
