Metro Bus Routes Get Smog Orders as Utility Shifting Picks Up Pace

FAISALABAD: The shifting of utility services from the Metro Bus project routes will be speeded up. Water will also be sprayed on the routes every four hours during the possible smog season.

According to the official handout, Project Director Punjab Mass Transit Authority Captain (retired) Zahid Saeed and Commissioner Faisalabad Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh jointly chaired a meeting at the Commissioner Office, where the latest progress on shifting the services of Sui Gas, FESCO, WASA and other departments was reviewed.

The Commissioner said more than 800 old trees had been shifted from the metro routes at a fast pace and replanted at three places. He said the departments had been mobilised for shifting FESCO poles, Sui Gas installations and WASA services, and he would himself visit the WASA pipeline shifting work.

The Project Director directed that safety measures be ensured during construction work on the metro routes. He said the Commissioner was taking a deep interest in the fast shifting of utilities, all departments were in coordination, and they were determined to complete the project within the set period.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Noman Siddiq, Director Punjab Mass Transit Authority Danish Raza, Deputy Director Dilshad Ahmed, Director Development Asif Chauhan, MD WASA Saqib Raza, MD Horticulture Agency Dilawar Khan and officers of FESCO, Sui Gas, NESPAK and the Traffic Police also attended.
