According to the district administration, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nouman Siddique toured the town’s inner and outer areas, commercial centres, main highways and entry and exit points. He was accompanied by MNA Chaudhry Shahbaz Babar, officers of all relevant departments and field teams.
The deputy commissioner said a visible improvement must appear in the overall condition of Samundri under the campaign. All the measures, he said, must bring lasting results.
At the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, he reviewed the medical facilities being provided to patients, the availability of medicines and the state of cleanliness.
He also inspected the dialysis centre under construction at the hospital and reviewed the pace and quality of its work. He directed that the project’s completion within the stipulated period be ensured so that citizens could get better treatment facilities.
The deputy commissioner reviewed the renovation of parks, the painting of road dividers and kerb stones, the removal of wall chalking and the restoration of street lights.
He directed that street lights be restored on all main highways and important streets of the city. Wall chalking must be eliminated completely and parks and other green areas properly restored, he said.
Reviewing the cleanliness operation under the Suthra Punjab programme, he checked the availability of sanitation staff and machinery. He stressed making all areas, streets and bazaars of the city zero waste.
He also directed better cleanliness at the entry and exit points, correction of signboards and keeping the city’s sanitation system running on a permanent basis.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Municipal Services) Anwar Ali Kanju, Assistant Commissioner Samundri Mian Adnan Atif and officers of the Parks and Horticulture Authority, the Municipal Committee, Local Government, Wasa and Suthra Punjab were also present.
The deputy commissioner said all available resources were being used, under the chief minister’s vision, to provide better civic facilities to the public and change the condition of cities.
The campaign’s basic purpose, he said, was to mobilise all relevant departments on one platform for practical and lasting solutions to public problems.
Visible improvement in cleanliness, beauty, health, lighting and basic facilities was the real measure of the campaign’s success, he said. There would be no compromise on the speed and quality of work in the field, he added.
