- She said she had since received calls from various numbers
- DIG Faisal Kamran ordered the special IT team to trace the caller and take legal action
LAHORE: A woman told an open court on Friday that an unknown caller had posted her mobile number on a marriage application, after which she began receiving calls from strangers, officials said.
The complainant told DIG Operations Faisal Kamran that the unknown caller had also claimed he could hack social media accounts.
The DIG directed the special IT team to investigate the matter, saying the accused should be identified and action taken against him under the law.
He said that in a similar earlier incident, a rickshaw driver had been arrested and a case registered against him for putting a woman’s number on a marriage app.
Complaints about tenancy and mortgaged-house fraud were also received at the open court. Orders for inquiries and legal action were issued to the SHOs concerned.
Faisal Kamran said there would be no leniency for those who played with the honour and dignity of women, adding that delays or negligence over women’s complaints would not be tolerated.
He said he held the open court daily from 1pm to 3pm.
