He said officials involved in corruption would also stand in the dock of the law. The uniform, he said, would not be allowed to become a means of personal gain.

The handout added that accountability in the Lahore police would continue and there would be no compromise on corruption or malpractice.

Nine Officers Earn Inspector Stripes

According to the DIG Operations office, nine Lahore police officers have been promoted to the rank of inspector. The DIG Operations and the SSP Operations pinned inspector badges on the nine officers at a rank ceremony.

The promoted officers’ families were also invited to the ceremony. Those promoted are Muhammad Afzal, Safdar Ali, Muhammad Zahid, Abdul Rahim, Waqas Aslam, Muhammad Waheed Khan, Aamir Bota, Yasir Ali Joyia and Naveed Iqbal.

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran congratulated the officers and their families on the promotion. He said the promotion recognised an officer’s hard work and professional ability.

Faisal Kamran said the prayers and support of families also shared in an officer’s success. He hoped the promoted officers would perform their duties with greater hard work and honesty.

Justice Ordered Within Seven Days

The DIG Operations office said an elderly citizen arrived in a wheelchair at the DIG Operations khuli kachehri in Lahore. He complained that his younger brother had occupied his property.

Faisal Kamran ordered the SHO Samanabad, Lahore, to provide the citizen justice within seven days. The DIG heard citizens’ complaints at the open court and issued immediate orders.

Citizens described the open court as a means of immediate redress and effective legal support. Faisal Kamran ordered immediate legal action on complaints of harassment, domestic disputes and other social problems.

He said no leniency would be shown in matters of women’s protection and harassment cases. SHOs were given special instructions for the timely resolution of inheritance disputes and for maintaining law and order.

Faisal Kamran said providing citizens justice, protection and timely legal guidance was the Lahore Police’s foremost duty. He said he personally heard public problems at the khuli kachehri six days a week, from 1pm to 3pm.

He said negligence or delay in citizens’ complaints would not be tolerated. Faisal Kamran said the officers concerned would be answerable for any such lapse.
