LAHORE: Police stations across Lahore will have their station house officers’ conduct towards junior staff reviewed after subordinate employees used an open court to complain of abusive language and mistreatment by the officers they serve under.

The complaints were placed before DIG Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran at the open court, where subordinate staff appeared and spoke against the behaviour of their station house officers, according to the DIG Operations spokesman.

The staff complained that SHOs misbehaved with them inside police stations and used foul language against them, the spokesman said.

Taking notice, the DIG ordered a special operation in all 84 police stations of Lahore, under which the behaviour of every SHO towards subordinate staff will be reviewed, according to the spokesman.

The DIG said the police support staff was the face of the force and declared: “There will be no compromise on the dignity of the subordinate staff.”

He said action would be taken against any officer found mistreating or abusing subordinate employees.

There will be no compromise on the dignity of the subordinate staff.

Faisal Kamran said police employees who were treated well would in turn give citizens better behaviour and better services. He said respectful conduct with the public and dignity for subordinate staff were both his priorities.

He said mutual respect within the force was the foundation of people-friendly policing.

Citizens also placed complaints before the open court about usury, tenancy matters, mortgaged houses, fraud in transactions and fights. The DIG ordered the SHOs concerned to take action on the complaints, the spokesman said.

In-Laws Held Over Son-in-Law Beating

In Johar Town, a citizen was beaten with sticks by his in-laws after he refused to sell his house plot, according to the DIG Operations spokesman.

Nawab Town police arrested three men: the victim’s father-in-law, his brother-in-law and a cousin of his. The three were shifted to the lockup, the spokesman said.

A case has been registered at Nawab Town police station and further legal action is under way, according to the spokesman.

The DIG said there was no room for bullying or violence in Lahore and that lawbreakers would face the law. He said the accused who had beaten their son-in-law over a domestic dispute were in the grip of the law.
