FAISALABAD: The Millat Road Sahulat Bazaar will run seven days a week as nearby illegal bazaars are wound up.

According to the divisional administration handout, Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh visited the bazaar and was briefed on the steps taken to make it fully functional.

The Commissioner directed the Sub-Divisional Enforcement Officer of the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) to clear the illegal bazaars next Monday and Friday and shift their stall holders into the Sahulat Bazaar with dignity.

The handout said the Director Development would supervise the whole process directly.

At the bazaar, the shifted stall holders will get free electricity and pay no parking fee, while security, CCTV cameras, cleanliness, washrooms and drinking water are already in place.

The Commissioner told Sahulat Bazaar Authority officers to inform the traders around the bazaar about its facilities, with awareness banners to be displayed and announcements made in mosques.

He said providing a business-friendly environment to traders on the chief minister’s instructions was the administration’s priority, adding that the bazaar, set up on canal land, had room for more than 100 stalls.

The Commissioner also inspected the Millat Road land picked for the Sahulat On The Go Bazaar, where work begins this November once the design is ready and ends by January 2027.

He said the On The Go bazaar was a revolutionary project of the chief minister, meant to provide fruit, vegetables, chicken and grocery items to consumers at official rates at one place.
