LAHORE: A woman told an open court on Friday that her husband had been implicated in a false rape case, saying he was with her at the time of the alleged incident, a police spokesman said.

She appealed for justice, saying her husband had been named in a case that had no basis. DIG Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran, who heard the complaints, guided her about legal assistance and recourse to the relevant forum.

Most complaints at the open court related to fraud in the purchase and sale of land and other property disputes. One citizen alleged that he had been defrauded of more than Rs40 million in the purchase of a piece of land.

The DIG directed the SP Cantt and the SHOs concerned to take legal action on the complaints, the spokesman said. Complaints about fraud in the name of visas, monetary disputes and quarrels were also presented.

Citizens from Bahawalpur, Khanewal and Kasur also reached the open court, saying they had come to Lahore in the hope of justice. The DIG guided the visitors about the relevant legal forums and the legal assistance available to them, the spokesman said.

Faisal Kamran said the redress of citizens’ complaints and the provision of justice in accordance with the law was his top priority. He said an impartial examination of complaints about false allegations and baseless cases was essential.

Those who deprived citizens of their savings through fraud and deception would be dealt with in accordance with the law, he said. Unnecessary delay and negligence in action on complaints would not be tolerated, he added.
