FAISALABAD: Civil Defence sealed three illegal fireworks businesses in Faisalabad on Sunday after enforcement teams found them manufacturing and selling explosive material without licences, officials said.
The raids were carried out on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nauman Siddiq. A Civil Defence enforcement team, led by Civil Defence Officer Javed Akhtar Khichi, raided premises on Mai Mastani Road, in Chak 229 RB and in Makkuana.
The team found three places manufacturing and selling fireworks without licences. Chief Instructor Muhammad Altaf sealed all three premises.
The recovered explosive material was destroyed on the spot.
A case was registered against one owner under sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act 1908 at Sadar police station. The material was being prepared in residential areas, where it could have caused major loss of life and property, officials said.
